3 Reasons Why I Love Our DVR

Reason #1: When there is a holiday from school (like today), and I get to sleep in, Millie's inner alarm clock likes to go off an hour earlier than mine. At 7:45 in the morning, Millie comes in, jumps on my head and asks "What are we doing today?" It's awesome to be able to take her downstairs, turn on banked episodes of Word World or Curious George and crawl back into bed for an extra 30 minutes (or an hour and a half if you have a bunch of episodes saved...) of sleep.
Reason #2: So you can catch up on an entire season of Fringe because after the first episode you weren't so sure you'd like it, but after staying up to 1:00am watching 8 episodes, you find yourself wondering how a person/evil corporation can dip a metallic butterfly's wings in poisonous hallucinogens only excreted from toads. It keeps one awake at night.

Reason #3: So I can bank episodes of Leverage, Burn Notice, 24, and the Oprah show on sex for warm summer nights when nothing good is on.

January Weekend

So it's cold, snowy and you're in your post-holiday funk caused by subsisting on nothing but salted pecan logs, a Hickory Farms beef stick and Martinelli's sparkling cider for 14 days. The tree is dry and rotting in your front room and your children have already broken or lost half of their toys. There is nothing good on TV this weekend, but that's ok. I have your weekend all planned out.
Friday night (Jan. 9th) you can come to Riverton High School and for a mere $5.00, see some talented high school students perform Broadway Nights, a musical revue with 24 songs from familiar (and not so familiar) Broadway musicals. This year we're doing numbers from Mamma Mia!, West Side Story, Hairspray and a whole lot more. If that's not enough to entice you, Kelly DeHaan (the brilliant musician/performer/teacher at West Jordan High School) will be accompanying the show (and singing a beautiful rendition of Unusual Way from the musical Nine). The show is at 7:00pm and I promise entertainment.
Saturday night (Jan. 10th) you can come to Hale Center Theatre to see me in Cash On Delivery at either 4:00pm or 7:30pm. You can read a review here or here. It's a very silly show and perfect for a yucky January afternoon.
Sunday night you can come over to our house, have some pot roast and watch the season premiere of 24.
Oh!! You forgot about Friday night? You made other plans? You couldn't get a sitter? Well you're perfectly fine because my music, dance, theatre class is performing Broadway Nights AGAIN at 7:00pm on Monday night (Jan. 12th) in the RHS Auditorium. Madness you say? You"ll be even more pleased that the price is still a measly $5.00 for 2 hours of entertainment. Hope to see you there!
